Laangela Sheri Davis, Current Board of Education Member and “District Parent”, is running for Zone 4 City.
Name: Laangela Sheri Davis
Office Sought: Mayville School Board, Zone 4 – City
Occupation: CDL bus driver for Horicon School District; forklift driver at Quad Graphics; former USPS Postmaster (12 years)
Family Information: I have five children, four of whom will be going to school through the Mayville Public School system.
Background: I went to Minot university on a full Scholarship for basketball, study associated for communication. I left, got married and moved to Wisconsin in 2003. I worked for USPS from 2005 until 2015 and became a school bus driver in 2004 until now. I also work at Quad Graphics in Lomira. I have 5 kids, with two of them currently in the Mayville schools. I have lived in mayville for two years.
Community Involvement: I am relatively new to town, but excited to become involved in my community. I am currently serving on the Mayville School Board.
Why are you running for candidacy? I am interested in being on the school board to be a parent liaison with the district. I became aware of bullying/threatening situations in the schools and wanted to become more involved to affect positive change.
What are your qualifications? First and foremost, I am a parent with children in the schools. I have a vested interest in creating the best environment for all children to learn and thrive.
Through my former career as a Postmaster, I have developed skills in listening and problem solving. In my current experience driving bus for school-age children, I see challenges these kids are facing everyday.
Why should people vote for you? I believe I am approachable and I am interested in hearing directly from the parents, teachers and the Mayville community as a whole. I have the energy and desire to connect to the issues facing our children today and I am excited to help foster an improved experience for everyone.
Make sure you make it to the polls on Tuesday, April 3rd, to show your support in moving Mayville forward!
